Molex Quasar OptiX OSP Fiber Optic cables are designed to be easier for the technician to handle. For use in buried or aerial applications in harsh outside plant environments, these cables are easy-to-identify, speed up the splicing and termination process and reduce injury. With five layers of protection to stop water intrusion and temperature ratings up to -40° C, the bend resistant cables can facilitate any type of application or installation method. 

To demonstrate their resilience in extreme temperatures, Molex conducted a test to show how these OSP fiber optic cables perform. After soaking in a Cryo chamber at -40° C for several  hours, Quasar OptiX OSP Fiber Optic cables achieved the following results: 

• Passed the bend test 
• Jacket removal performed the same as at room temperature 
• The buffer tubes maintained their performance level 
• The buffer tubes achieved a smaller bend radius at -40° C than at room temperature
• The cables passed the kink and crush tests without impacting the fibers when the jacket failed
• The tube split performed the same as it did at room temperature
