67. Types of inductor
Typical types of inductor and its features.
Type of inductor | Characteristic |
---|---|
Air core coil |
It is a coil that wound the electric wire in the spring shape. Nonmagnetic material is used although nothing is in the core. It is used in the high frequency circuit. |
Core coil |
It is a coil that wound the electric wire in the cores of the cylinder shape, E character type, and the drum type. A lot of magnetic substance ferrites are used as the material in the core. |
Toroidal coil |
Toroidal is the meaning of circular, and is structured by winding the electric wire in the ferrite of the doughnut type. It has a stable inductance of less leakage flux, and it is used for the high frequency circuit. |
Lamination coil |
Layers upon layers of conducting metal are printed on the thin sheet of ferrite and ceramic material, and is structured to connect between layers by Via. A high inductance has been achieved though it is small. |
Ferrite bead |
It is the one in which the lead wire passed through a cylindrical ferrite. It is used for the EMC countermeasures. It is effective for the high frequency. |
