Riverside, California - December 1, 2014 - Bourns is pleased to announce the release of the Model 2015 Series Gas Discharge Tube (GDT) Surge Arrestor with FLAT™ Technology. Bourns sets a new industry standard by offering a 2-electrode GDT in an innovative fl at-package design. Bourns® FLAT™ technology delivers a low profi le solution for high density and height-restricted PCB applications.
The Model 2015 Series is an ITU K.12 Class II device rated at 5 kA on an 8/20 µs waveform. The series is offered with DC breakdown voltages ranging from 90 to 600 V and is available in horizontal and vertical surface mount versions as well as a leadless design for cartridge or clamp fi t applications.
The new series features an innovative horizontal SMD design that accomplishes a 66 % height savings compared to a standard 5 mm Bourns® GDT. When compared to an 8 mm Bourns® GDT, the Model 2015 provides a 75 % savings in volume. When vertically mounted, the Model 2015 series is capable of supporting approximately twice the number of GDTs in the same board space as compared to similar board space using surface mount 8 mm GDTs.
